Cash is Illegal
As many in Saskatchewan will know, a fellow by the name of Eric Braun (A former member of the Saskatoon regional health authority) was found to be in possession of a bunch of illegal drugs and a big stash of cash. Now I could easily point out why this case is stupid and how regulation rather than outright prohibition would do away with problems like this...and I will. Eric Braun is rumoured to have been selling drugs to kids because he doesn't work out of a liquor store where they have to ask for ID. Yah it's not a 100% effective solution but I'll bet it's easier for Timmy to get a hit of ecstasy that it is to get a bottle of beer right? right. Anyhow, that old hat argument aside, (why hasn't anyone gotten that yet?!) I was surprise dto read that Braun was charged with (In addition to all the other drug related charges) being in possession of $25,000 or more. Wuhh? I work in a cash business and theoretically if I buckled down and saved every penny possible, I could have a big stack of cash squirrelled away under my floorboards. I'll bet I could easily surpass $25,000 if I really really wanted to sacrifice any and all pleasures of life like chocolate, orange juice and chocolate. Shouldn't I be allowed to if I want to? Now I know the intent behind this type of thing. Anyone in possession of so much cash is probably working in other "less than legal" cash industries and so uhh...hmm...well I'm not sure what making their money stockpiles illegal really does to prevent this but isn't it odd? I thought our money was supposed to be our own to do with as we pleased. How can it be possible to make a law that says we aren't allowed to have too much of it all in one place?
